Global Software Helps Minority Agency Gain Market

CARLISLE, Pa. (July 9, 2004) -- Torres Credit Services, Inc. had a unique opportunity to expand its business when one of the largest utility companies in the country approached them. Although this public company wasn’t sure that a smaller collection firm could handle its extensive needs, it needed to place some business with a minority agency that had the technology and know-how to handle a larger profile. Another question was how well could this small agency handle the unique requirements for each of the utility’s sister companies.
Torres Credit had already been using Global Software’s Latitude collection system for several years. Dave Bucher, president of Torres Credit, immediately contacted Global Software to see if it could quickly create interfaces to support new business placements from such a large utility. Global Software's president, Carl Harkleroad, and senior programmer, Beth Meserve, began documenting the extensive requirements with IT contacts at the utility. The two sister companies each had completely different data layouts, which essentially meant orchestrating two major implementations at one time. Both companies would require daily payment remittances along with complete debtor demographics. This is a trend with large companies because the process doesn’t require data entry on the part of the outsourcer. Each of the sister companies also required bi-directional interfaces for daily maintenance files, recall requests, balance adjustments and payment information.
The utility also wanted a real-time interface between its trust accounts and those of Torres Credit so that newly collected funds could be posted each day. This involved diligent setup and testing using dummy files and test data to ensure that the transfer would be successful. The company was quite impressed with Torres Credit’s collection processes as well as its ability to handle all of the requirements in the shortest amount of time. Bucher believes that his client’s satisfaction will lead to more business as Torres Credit continues to prove its abilities.
Although Bucher has worked with many systems over the years, he is most pleased with the flexibility and power of Latitude, Bucher said.
